In 2026, Maine Whitewater is offering our Spring whitewater raft guide training on the following dates –
Spring Guide Training – May 15-25 2026.
(1) Pre-training orientation meets at our base in Bingham, Maine at 3:00 PM on Friday, May 14. On-River training begins on Saturday, May 15 and continues through Sunday, May 25.
CPR, First Aid and Written Examination:
CPR & Advanced First Aid will run from 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM, on Monday, May 25 at our base in Bingham, Maine.
Whitewater guide written examination – After completion of the Whitewater Guide Training, First Aid and CPR, you will take a written test administered by the State of Maine – Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. Upon successful completion of the test, you will receive your license to be a Registered Maine Whitewater Guide and are eligible to work as a Whitewater Raft Guide for Maine Whitewater.
Total cost for the training program is $250.
In addition, the Maine Department of Inland Fish and Wildlife charges $100 to take the written examination. After passing your written exam, you will have the opportunity to purchase your Registered Maine Whitewater Guide License. The cost for the 3 year guide license is $89. Both fees (exam and license) are paid to the Department of Inland Fish and Wildlife at the time of your test.
Required Payment - is a ($250) deposit to confirm registration, exam fees ($100) and license fees ($89).
Maine Whitewater accepts all major credit and debit cards, checks or money orders. Checks and money orders must be made payable to Maine Whitewater.

To process your registration, Maine Whitewater must receive the following from you:
* A Maine Whitewater application form (downloadable by PDF below)
* A completed Guide Application form (downloadable by PDF below)
* Two copies of your current CPR and First Aid Certifications (provided by YOU) or you can register for our CPR & Advanced First Aid Course (May 25, 2026)
* Payment of $250
ONE FINAL REMINDER: DO NOT send application forms to the State of Maine – Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.
